Paragliding. NZ style…

We were at 1400m, sitting at Parachute Rocks, on the St Arnaud Range when we heard a sudden flapping sound, like a flag, above us. Looking up, we spotted a paraglider, sitting as happy as can be, gliding on the updrafts.

The snow was down to 1200m, and the peaks average between 1330- 1700m.

Apparently St Arnaud is a famous spot, and hosts a Paragliding competition each summer. Something different for when your next up a mountain and considering an alternative way down.
